RTA Halloween Costume Contest and Treasure Hunt Recap
RTA held a halloween costume contest and treasure hunt in late October... the trail featured 23 natural and spooky treasures for riders to find and photograph along the way...points awarded to the team who found the most spooks...with extra credit awarded to those who captured a pic of their horse and the find in the photo. thanks to Kariann for organizing the event and all of our participants and chefs!!
Readington Trail Association (RTA) is a qualified 501(c)3 organization with the goal of preserving the rural atmosphere of Readington through establishing and maintaining many miles of beautiful trails throughout the Township. In addition to trail work, RTA works within the community to support essential/emergency services and educate members and others about equine health, safety and emergency procedures.

Please report downed trees and other issues to the appropriate Trail Boss
or annie2ponies@yahoo.com We are partnering with the county, township and hiking group to maintain trails. Look for upcoming RTA trail clearing sessions and please try to donate a few hours of your time.
Sections of the River Trail by Deer Path Park have been cleared and widened. Hikers have cleared some side trails for foot traffic and have asked that we keep horses on the main trail only. Thanks.
The White Trail up Round Mountain from 629 is now passable. Some work has been done to mitigate the washout from prior storms on that section of trail, although it is still rocky and shoes or boots are recommended. The white trail up to the top of the mountain from Woodschurch Road has downed trees but is passable. The section of the White Trail across from the Stanton General Store remains closed to horses due to previous damage and also downed trees.
The parking lot on Summer Road to access the Pleasant Run Greenway and Lazy Brook Greenway has been expanded to accommodate a few horse trailers.
We have learned that the Cushetunk trail section in Clinton and parking lot by the train tracks on Old Mountain Rd are not open to equestrians. We are pursuing this with the County Parks Advisory Board. For the Readington trails in Cushetunk, you can park at Pickell park.
The parking lot in the field next to tower field has been expanded to accommodate 1-2 horse trailers.

Summer Gymkhana & Pot Luck Supper Recap
We had so much fun at the spring pot luck summer and gymkhana on June 15th! The food was amazing (thanks to all of our chefs) followed by fun and games! Kariann's 4 year old did great at his very first gymkhana, and all the other horses were rock stars too! Thanks to our hosts, Al & Karen, facilities were amazing! Thanks also to our competitors, audience, and volunteers!!

2024-2025 Hunting Season
Hunting season is coming right up! All open space in Readington is leased out for hunting to help control local deer populations. When on the trails, please always wear blaze orange and obey safety zone times: Monday through Friday from 10 am-3 pm., all day on Sundays. Please avoid riding on public trails on Saturdays. If you are riding county or state land, please familiarize yourself with any hunting rules and regs they may have.
Natural Horsemanship/Round Pen Demo
RTA featured a natural horsemanship/round pen demonstration at Margo's farm in May (Thanks Margo!). We used 2 different horses to show the difference between a horse that had never been round penned versus one that was well schooled. Aramis must have been studying up ahead of time because he took to it quite well! Boston did a great job showing off his knowledge and was an A student!! Thanks to our 15 participants and especially Margo who hosted the event at her absolutely gorgeous farm! Thanks also to our photographers!!
