The RTA Holiday Party was held on Saturday, January 9th at the Clinton Holiday Inn.  It was great to see some new friends and old friends alike!  We had a great turnout and the food was delicious!  Our gift exchange was a hoot as usual with shameless stealing of gifts!  Pictures coming soon!

Muzzleloader (61 days) Nov 21 - Feb 13
Shotgun (43 days) Nov 28 – Feb 9
Winter bow (41 days) Jan 1– Feb 16
Hunting is now permitted on Sundays on private land and Wildlife Management Areas.  Click Here for a list of properties where there is NO deer hunting allowed on Sundays.

AniMeals Day at the Glassman House

Thanks to all of our participants!  We had some really exotic and creative costumes and all the horses were very brave in the Enchaned Forest!

We Need Your Help!!!!

An amendment to the 25 mph horse and rider speed limit law has been proposed to clarify and strengthen the intent of the original legislation.  The amendment has been hanging around for two years without being passed.  Please consider supporting this amendment by contacting your state representatives Click Here for a draft letter to the Readington Representatives.  Simply print, sign and mail (or call)  Senator Karow, Assemblyman DiMaio and Assemblyman Doherty 115 Demarest Rd., Suite 2B, Sparta, NJ 07871

Poker Ride Preparation:   We will be meeting at 10 am on Friday October 23rd at Cole Rd to mark the trail.  We will meet again on Saturday October 24th 10 am at Cole Rd to set up the haunted woods and scavenger hunt.  If you plan to come, please call Lisa at 908-797-9750 and let her know.  Pls wear blaze orange and bring a water bottle.

NJ Horse Council's Equine Liability Seminar- October 15, 2009 6-8 pm at Rick's Saddle Shop in Cream Ridge NJ.  Patricia Ratner, Esquire will be addressing equine insurance and the liability law, including a controversial ruling on a new case.  Click Here for more information. 

Trail Clearings:  There will be 2 trail clearings to prepare for the Fall Poker Ride. Thursday Sept 24th meet at Bauman Stickney 10 am. Saturday October 10pth, meet at Towerfield 10 am.  pls brings tools, gloves and water.

Mark Your Calendars! RTA Summer BBQ at Deer Path Park, Overlook Pavillion on Saturday August 29th, 5PM until dusk.  Old West BBQ will be catering the event. Beverages will be provided. Alcohol is not allowed in the Park.  The cost is $10 per person to cover the cost of food and beverages.  Please bring a dessert.  Please RSVP to Al at crazy_horse_farm@yahoo.com or 908-806-3258 by August 23 so a head count can be given to catering company.

LVTA Challenge!!

Dressage Schooling Show and/or Trail Ride and BBQ!  Saturday August 29th at Flickerwood Farm (Long Valley, NJ).  No need to compete in the dressage show to participate in the Trail RIde and BBQ.  Go on a guided trail ride or head out on your own on the beautiful Gillette section of the Columbia Trail.  Open to members and non-members alike.  Please click here for details and entry form or

July Trail Ride Recap

Sunday July 19th-  We had a picture perfect day for our ride.  We had 7 riders including 2 new members who all enjoyed a beautiful and scenic 1.5 hour ride at Baldpate Mtn.

Amwell Valley Hounds Hunter Pace

Originally scheduled for June 21 is postponed until NEW DATE OF JULY 12 due to poor ground conditions and will be held at the Hillborough Country Club. Click here for pace details.

NJQHA All Breed Charity Ride Recap

The ride was a HUGE success with approximately 70 riders! We broke into 3 groups for all levels of riders.  The weather and views were spectacular!  The BBQ was delicious and the prizes were abundant!  Many thanks to the NJQHA and Round Valley Youth Center for making this ride possible!! To view the slideshow, click here.

June Trail Clearing

There is a Trail Clearing scheduled for Thursday June 25th at 10:00 am.  Meet at Cole Road West (where chain is across the dirt road leading into trails).  Please bring clippers, loppers, gloves, etc.

Daube Farms 16th Annual Rodeo for Charity

The Montgomery Rodeo will be held on June 13th at 7 pm and the 14th at 2 pm. in Skillman NJ.  This year's event will be action packed with food and fun for all.  Gates open 1.5 hours before each performance.  Adult tix are $15 and Seniors/Students are $13. Parking on site.  361 Sunset Road, Skillman, NJ 908-359-7832.

Readington Trail Association Trail Pace Results

June Trail Clearing

There is a Trail Clearing scheduled for Wed June 10th at 2:30 pm at the Pleasant Run Greenway.  We will meet at the intersection of Hixson Rd. and Summer Road.  Please bring clippers, hand saw, work gloves.  The weather forecast does not look good...so please check for email updates.

Rutgers Cooperative Extension sets training for Animal waste management plans.

NJ passed the Animal Waste Management Rule on February 9, requiring the development of “Self-Certified Animal Waste Management Plans.” Click Here to learn more and for training dates and locations.

Trail Clearings-

Slight change in plans-We will now be doing the trail pace trail clearing on April 10th.  We are meeting at 10:30 am at Towerfield. Please bring clippers, loppers etc.  Trail Clearing for the new Pleasant Run Greenway Trail will be rescheduled once certain sections of the trail have been slightly re-routed at the request of the powers that be.

Ready for some Spring Riding??

The first hunter paces of the year are coming right up.  On Saturday April 4th there is a trail pace at Tyler State Park to benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital.  On Sunday April 5th is the annual hunter pace at Lord Stirling and also one hosted by Monmouth County Hunt.

Trail Marking- We will be clearing and marking the white trail on Round Mountain on March 26th at 10:30 am.  Pls call Lisa to let her know you are coming at 908-797-9750.

RTA/AEA Joint Trail Ride

RTA will be hosting a joint trail ride with AEA on Thursday, March 19, 2:00.  Meet at Sue and Al's Crazy Horse Farm.For directions or to RSVP pls call Al at 908-313-9063.

Jan 25, 2009 Gymkhana Recap

Many thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers who made this event a HUGE succeess.  The turnout was fantastic- we filled the arena!  Despite a rather cold day, we made it through our class list (minus jackpot barrels and poles).  We have had some terrific feedback that will be incorporated into our next joint gymkhana on March 8, 2009.  Click here to view photos!  More Photos!
